foundation of faith

Leaders of the Methodist Church were instrumental in the 1836 founding of Wesleyan College. Today, Wesleyan remains deeply committed to her long-standing affiliation with The United Methodist Church and continues to build on the ideals of the church through dynamic programs for Wesleyan women.

PIERCE CHAPEL

Pierce Chapel is a sacred space dedicated to the creation of a campus culture of respect, love, and understanding through prayer, worship, dialogue, learning, and service. The chapel serves as a place for campus ministry programming in addition to special services that mark the liturgical and academic year. The chapel also hosts lectures by eminent theologians and scholars, convocations centered on various themes, as well as inspiring concerts and community programs.

NETVUE

(Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) Wesleyan is an affiliated member of this nationwide network of colleges and universities formed to enrich the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation among undergraduate students. This initiative is administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) with generous support from Lilly Endowment Inc. and members' dues. The purposes of NetVUE are to:

  • Deepen the understanding of the intellectual and theological dimensions of vocational exploration;
  • Examine the role of vocational exploration in a variety of institutional contexts;
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and reflection on experiences across participating campuses;
  • Develop a network for sustaining an extended program in the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation; and
  • Facilitate the incorporation of additional colleges and universities into this enterprise.

Campus leaders at NetVUE member institutions will have access to a variety of resources, programs, and services.
