The Office of International Student Services at Wesleyan College is committed to providing culturally sensitive services to international students. In order to help them learn more about American culture, we have implemented the Wesleyan Friendship Family Program (WFFP). A goal of this program is to help our students integrate into the Wesleyan community and to improve their quality of campus life. In addition, we hope to acquaint the Macon community with the wealth of diversity that Wesleyan brings to our city. This is done by matching families in the local community with international students at Wesleyan College.
The program emphasizes a friendship relationship designed to give support for international students as they adjust to their new environment and learn about the culture. Families are not expected to house students. As a Friendship Family, you provide perspective on American culture by including the student in informal dinners, holiday celebrations, an occasional family outing, or any event that adds to the richness of the international student’s experience in the United States. In exchange, international students bring with them fascinating culture and fresh perspectives, which can enable you to learn and better appreciate the different cultures present in our global community.
If you are considering being a Friendship Family, please contact the Office of International Student Services for more information. So that we may coordinate families and students before the holidays begin, please submit an application. For more information, contact: Tonya Parker, Office of Student Affairs, (478) 757-5214 or mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
