Munroe Scholar Anjola Uprety double majored in chemistry and applied mathematical science. While at Wesleyan, she enjoyed three summer undergraduate research fellowships (SURF) in her field of interest. Her first and second internships were at the University of Minnesota. Her first was in the Department of Organic Chemistry and her second was in the Department of Physical Chemistry.
During the summer of 2017, Anjola worked on a collaborative project with two professors at Purdue University’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Purdue has one of the most reputable materials science and engineering programs in the U.S.
“The internship reinforced my goals and helped me prepare for graduate school and for a career in materials engineering. I gained experience in using analytical instruments, learned how to network with professors and professionals, and developed leadership and communications skills.”
