Leaders of the Methodist Church were instrumental in the 1836 founding of Wesleyan College. Today, Wesleyan remains deeply committed to the long-standing affiliation with The United Methodist Church and continues to build on the ideals of the church through dynamic programs for Wesleyan women. Religious life at Wesleyan College is enhanced by several campus ministry organizations which offer bible studies, worship experiences, trips, retreats, and social activities. These include the Wesley Foundation, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Episcopal Lutheran Fellowship.
Wesleyan College is affiliated with The United Methodist Church and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award the baccalaureate degree, the master of education in early childhood education, and the master of business administration. Wesleyan College is approved for listing by the University Senate as an institution that is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

"Wesleyan has been a place for me to foster my livelihood of service and leadership. I came to Wesleyan seeking to grow; little did I know that I would grow in such a meaningful way in my relationships on and off campus and in my faith. Wesleyan has made such a significant mark in my life that I'll always carry with me wherever I go. Thank you, Wesleyan."
