Valentina Huang

Valentina came to Wesleyan in July 2016 from Jiangxi Province, China. She studies piano, harpsichord, and organ performance, works as an accompanist for the music department, and is a member of the Concert Choir.

During her first two years at Wesleyan, Valentina won the Southeast Young Artist Piano Competition, Georgia Music Teachers Collegiate Concerto Competition, GMTA Collegiate Auditions, and most recently, the Rome Symphony Concerto Competition. She has studied at the Interharmony International Music Festival in Germany and was selected as an Outstanding Performer, and in 2018 she attended the Brevard Music Festival.

While at Wesleyan, Valentina won the Southeast Young Artist Piano Competition, Georgia Music Teachers Collegiate Concerto Competition, GMTA Collegiate Auditions, and the Rome (GA) Symphony Concerto Competition. She also studied at the Interharmony International Music Festival in Germany and was selected as an Outstanding Performer and attended the Brevard Music Festival, one of this country’s premier summer training programs. 

Since her time at Wesleyan, she earned a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music in Organ Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance at Rice University.

“I think women need to be encouraged to stand up and live for themselves, to fight for what they want, and to be open to embracing different views and experiences. Studying at a women’s college helps women be brave enough to step into the career they want and to make their voices heard.”

Wesleyan College is privileged to steward many arts and cultural events and share them with the community. Most are free and open to the public. Wesleyan art galleries are open M-F 1-5PM and on Wesleyan Market Saturdays from 10AM-2PM.

NCAA Division III Athletics

Wesleyan College is home to five NCAA Division III sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and softball. In addition, we offer an award-winning Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Equestrian program.
