Audition Process

about the music audition process

Piano Auditions
Two pieces in contrasting styles from two of the following historical periods: Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern (20th and 21st Century). Music should be performed from memory. If you have questions please contact piano professor, Dr. Chenny Gan, cgan@wesleyancollege.edu or (478) 757-5147.

Organ Auditions
Students should prepare two works of contrasting styles to perform and a hymn from any standard hymnal; music may be used for this audition. Please arrange a practice time on the organ before the audition by contacting the organ professor, Dr. Michael McGhee, mmcghee@wesleyancollege.edu or (478) 757-2433.

Voice Auditions
The student should prepare two selections from the solo vocal repertoire in contrasting styles. It is recommended that, when possible, one of the selections should be a song in a foreign language (Italian, French, or German) plus a second selection in a contrasting style. One selection from musical theatre may be used. A voice part from a choral composition is not permissible. Please bring a copy of your selections to the audition; an accompanist will be provided. Taped accompaniments are not appropriate. Music should be performed from memory. If you have questions please contact Professor Nadine Cheek, ncheek@wesleyancollege.edu or (478) 757-5127.

Instrumental Auditions
The student should prepare two solo selections to successfully demonstrate your musical abilities and talents. Please bring a copy of the accompaniment unless the composition is specifically written for the instrument alone; an accompanist will be provided if needed. If you have questions please contact organ professor, Dr. Michael McGhee, mmcghee@wesleyancollege.edu or (478) 757-2433.
