What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that seeks to improve business processes by reducing waste, boosting efficiency, and increasing profit. Types of waste include defects, overproduction, waiting, non-utilized talent, transportation, inventory, motion, and extra-processing. The essence of the methods introduced in Lean Six Sigma curriculum is working collaboratively as a team to benefit the company or organization.

Every employee or member of your organization is important, and Lean Six Sigma helps motivate and improve morale by emphasizing collaboration and their individual ideas.

Both qualitative and quantitative techniques like process mapping are used. It teaches statistical thinking that can lead to increased consumer satisfaction by offering more value to your customers.

Lean Six Sigma has a belt system similar to Judo. Wesleyan College offers green belt curriculum as part of the business programs. Certification is suggested. Those looking to become certified in Lean Six Sigma are responsible for the associated fees.
